Types Of Suits For Men

in Outfits on 03/15/16

Every man should own at least one suit, period. There will be at least one occasion in every man’s life where he will need to wear a suit, whether it’s to a wedding, a special birthday party or anniversary party, or a business meeting. Due to not knowing when this occasion many arise, every man should have a suit on hand in his closet for the appropriate time. That way, he won’t have to rush to a retailer to rent a suit at the last second, finding one that doesn’t fit him properly.

There are three different fits for men’s suits: classic, slim and modern.

Classic Fit

The classic fit is an ageless suit for all men. It’s easy to wear, comfortable, and features a classic cut with a clean body shape. It’s cut big enough through the waist and chest, which results in less constriction for the man wearing it. Classic fits may not be the most modern option for men, but they are excellent for men who only wear suits occasionally. They can signify a slight changeover from never wearing a suit to a very stylish suit.

If you’re the type of man who prefers to only wear a suit when it’s absolutely necessary, then the classic fit is for you.

Slim Fit

The slim fit suit is a suit that is tighter on the body and doesn’t have excess fabric anywhere on it. They are commonly referred to as Italian fits, because the Italian suits were the original suit that was tailored to fit closer to the torso. Slim fit has nothing to do with the wearer being slim or not; it just refers to the construction of the suit and the overall appearance. Just note, though, that if you are not able to lift your arms in a suit, it’s too small for you. Even suits that have extremely slim fittings should be comfortable and let you move freely.

Slim fit suits are for men who need a suit to wear to weddings or prefer to wear a suit when they are out on the town.

Modern Fit

The modern suit is a cross between the classic and the slim fit suits. They are not as spacious as the classic fit suits, but they’re not as sharply tailored as the slim fit suit. They are perfect for men who want to appear sharp, but they’re not sure if they’re able to pull off a slim fit suit. Modern fit suits are perfect for any age and any environment, and are easily styled up or down.

The modern fit is also for men who want to look good on occasion. They’re also an excellent suit for business casual, as they are sharp but not too overly dressed.

Having the right suit for the occasion and knowing what fit will fit your body shape properly will make you look handsome and sharp. Remember, you should always have a suit hanging in your closet, because you never know when you’ll need one!
